The Next Essay in 'Fantastic Four' SeriesIf you are like me, you have looked at a few of the 'Fantastic Four' movies and have been wondering where their protagonists went. Well that is the subject of the next in my series of 'Fantastic Four' essays, where I will look at the various parts of the story that may have contributed to the series' first sequel 'Fantastic Four Part One: Identity Crisis'.
The first thing you must realize about the Fantastic Four is that they are young boys who have just discovered they can turn into super humans. The second thing is that when it comes to this young group, identity is very important. So we start with the most important part of the 'Fantastic Four' identity, the costumes. I will discuss this in the next 'Fantastic Four' essay.
Part Two: The Quest for the Identity - The Fantastic Four were never really sure who they were or what they were. Even after turning into super humans, they were afraid to use their powers on anyone, ever. They kept all their identity secrets until one day, while fixing a TV set, Reed Richards accidentally unlocks the secret identity that he has been hiding for years!
This one is also important because it gives us an idea of how Sue Richards feels about her brothers. She starts to realize how selfish she was as a kid and she begins to see her brothers for who they really are. After realizing who they really are, they become more selfless and do what is right rather than what is easy.
Part Three: Identity Crisis - This is where things get confusing, because the identities are not just suddenly revealed to all of them. As they discover more about their origins, they still feel as though they have to hide who they really are in some ways or another.
The key here is that the characters never seem to have any sort of identity crisis because they each keep their own little secret. There is always a question of what they are doing and what they are hiding, but no one seems to be asking them if they want to move forward or if they want to give up their secrets.
The next two essays will cover the Fantastic Four's other members and their relationship with each other. You will learn a lot about each member and how they get along together, but hopefully I did not go over anything too important, or left you hanging, because you have to read the first Fantastic Four essay, 'Fantastic Four Part One: Identity Crisis', to find out.
